18. Sep 2015 Synth Sounds and Beach Garage @ The Bird. Gunns, Mei Saraswati, Pool Boy

Dream Pop, Soul, Garage, Synth, RnB, Fuzzy Rock and Pop in one concert. You think that's impossible? You're wrong. Perth's allround music venue The Bird makes it happen. Last Friday three artists/bands with different styles came together to create this kind of concert you won't find elsewhere.

Pool Boy

Heavy Synth, gravy bass, minimalistic drum computer beat. Beth's uncanny and laconic style of singing and texts that don't mince matters, slow tempos and low harmonics made out of bass and keys. All of that creates a sinister, moody atmosphere. It seems the Boy in the Pool hasn't seen the sun in weeks. But that doesnt't spoil the quality of their music. It is intended. And that's exactly what makes the Trio's music exciting. An approach to Indie, Electronic and Dream Pop in a non comformist way. Stay tuned for their album release with Dream Rimmy and others at The Bird on 21st october!

Mei Saraswati

As one of Perth's next gen bedroom artists has Mei managed to create a very unique style of her own. A solid and constantly growing fanbase confirms her attempt to invent a new genre.  RnB meets minimalistic electronical beats. Mulitlayered soul singing meets Far Eastern sounds. Every element finds its place in harmony. Video collages or Bruce Lee movies in the background linked to the music rounds it off. Short stories and jokes in between the songs make her a reason more to watch. Mei creates tribal songs for the future.

Gunns

Oh my fuzzy goodness! Perth is said to be one of Australias hotspots when it comes to a vivid and young music scene. And Gunns make surely no exception. A summery fuzz-pop sound that became increasingly hip within the last few years. In a music tradition that made WA biggest exports Tame Impala and Pond famous, is this Gunn shooting out songs that can easily keep up with the music from their well-known colleagues. Fuzzy garage surf songs that sound like the waves of their hometown Freo have directly splashed into their music. A pinch of salty sunshine and the song is perfect. Distorted, yet melodic guitar riffs, a pushy bass and cool beats. Clinton's fine and carefree singing match perfectly on top of the pop like base. Their aim is to make people happy with their music. And they surely do!
